Daniel Klawitter

is a former actor and folk-rock singer who is now an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church and a full-time community organizer living in Denver, Colorado.

His poetry has appeared in numerous print and online journals including: Sacramental Life, QuietMountain: New Feminist Essays, Blue Collar Review, The Smoking Poet, and The Atonal Poetry Review.

Ravenous for Recognition

The bitter bile
rises in the throat

and your eyes turn yellow
like that of a goat

in endless hunger
chewing the thistle,

that torments the tongue
and makes the beard bristle.

Insatiable eater
in pasture or stall,

feasting on envy,
wormwood and gall.
