Ravenous for Recognition

The bitter bile
rises in the throat

and your eyes turn yellow
like that of a goat

in endless hunger
chewing the thistle,

that torments the tongue
and makes the beard bristle.

Insatiable eater
in pasture or stall,

feasting on envy,
wormwood and gall.
