{A Bumbershoot Special Feature}

Terese Coe’s

poems and translations have recently appeared in Threepenny Review, Ploughshares, and Poetry in the US, and Agenda and Orbis in the UK, among others, and her book, The Everyday Uncommon, won a Word Press publication prize in 2005.

She was awarded First Prize in the 2008 Helen Schaible Sonnet Award, was a finalist in the 2009 and 2004 Willis Barnstone Translation Prize, a scholarship recipient from Vermont Studio Center, and has received two grants from Giorno Poetry Systems.

Elusive I

It’s said I am unchangeable but shifting,
that I have captured souls, but am uncaught;
no one knows the eons I’ve been drifting
through time—unknown, unseen, but not unsought.
